Suriya, before doing mass hero roles, selected his films where he could excel as a performer, one of them being Mani Ratnam’s Ayutha Ezhuthu. Even though he is shown being shot at in an earlier scene, Michael Vasanth’s character is introduced as a straight talker who doesn’t hold back any punches as he confronts the minister’s son.
